Occupational Health and Safety Extra (OHSxtra) is an NHS pilot service designed to help employees of NHS Fife who are experiencing on-going health and welfare problems. The service provides the necessary support and treatment therefore helping the employee return to work or avoid sickness absence.

OHSxtra provides NHS employees with rapid access to a range of additional services including:

  • physiotherapy
  • occupational therapy
  • mental health support
  • access to an Occupational Health Nurse and Physician.

An assigned Case Manager will work with each person as they move through the treatment process and support them when they are ready to go back to work.

OHSxtra aims to reduce long-term sickness absence by improving the health, welfare and wellbeing of NHS staff. As a result, this will also improve the quality and continuity of patient care.
